CGG 1-273

Jesus, tender lover of my soul,
Pardoner of my sins and friend indeed,
Keeper of the garden of my soul,
All my lasting joys are found in Thee;

Jesus Thou art everything to me.
More to me than all the joys of earth,
What to me is every sight I see
Save the sight of Thee, O Friend of mine?

Here I lay me at Thy bleeding feet,
Deepest homage now I give to Thee;
Hear Thy whispered love within my soul;
Jesus Thou art everything to me.

Célébrons Dieu n° 212 : Au pied de ta sainte croix

Jesus, keep me near the cross,
There a precious fountain
Free to all, a healing stream
Flows from Calvary’s mountain.

Refrain :
In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.

Near the cross, a trembling soul,
Love and mercy found me;
There the bright and morning star
Sheds its beams around me. (Refrain)

Near the cross! O Lamb of God,
Bring its scenes before me;
Help me walk from day to day,
With its shadows o’er me. (Refrain)

Near the cross I’ll watch and wait
Hoping, trusting ever,
Till I reach the golden strand,
Just beyond the river. (Refrain)

CGG 1-316
It is glory just to walk with Him Whose blood has ransomed me;
It is rapture for my soul each day.
It is joy divine to feel Him near where’er my path may be.
Bless the Lord, it’s glory all the way!

Refrain :
It is glory just to walk with Him,
It is glory just to walk with Him,
He will guide my steps aright
Through the vale and o’er the height,
It is glory just to walk with Him.

It is glory when the shadows fall to know that He is near.
O what joy to simply trust and pray!
It is glory to abide in Him when skies above are clear.
Yes, with Him, it’s glory all the way!

Refrain

’Twill be glory when I walk with Him on Heaven’s golden shore,
Never from His side again to stray.
’Twill be glory, wondrous glory with the Savior evermore,
Everlasting glory all the way!

Refrain

CGG 1-331

The wise man built his house upon the rock, (ter)
And the rains came tumbling down.
The rains came down, and the floods rose up, (ter)
But the house on the rock stood firm.

The foolish man built his house upon the sand (ter),
And the rains came tumbling down.
The rains came down, and the floods rose up (ter),
And the house on the sound fell down.

So build your life on the Lord Jesus Christ,
Build your life on the Lord Jesus Christ (bis),
And the blessings will come down.
The blessings will come down as the prayers go up (ter),
So build your life on the Rock.

HeC 261

I have a Savior, He’s pleading in glory,
A dear, loving Savior though earth friends be few;
And now He is watching in tenderness o’er me;
And oh, that my Savior were your Savior, too.

Refrain

For you I am praying,
For you I am praying,
For you I am praying,
I’m praying for you.

I have a Father; to me He has given
A hope for eternity, blessèd and true;
And soon He will call me to meet Him in Heaven,
But, oh, that He’d let me bring you with me, too!

Refrain

I have a robe; ’tis resplendent in whiteness,
Awaiting in glory my wondering view;
Oh, when I receive it all shining in brightness,
Dear friend, could I see you receiving one, too!

Refrain

When Jesus has found you, tell others the story,
That my loving Savior is your Savior, too;
Then pray that your Savior may bring them to glory,
And prayer will be answered—’twas answered for you!

Refrain

Speak of that Savior, that Father in Heaven,
That harp, crown, and robe which are waiting for you—
That peace you possess, and that rest to be given,
Still praying that Jesus may save them with you.

Refrain

HeC 264

Go bury thy sorrow, the world hath its share;
Go bury it deeply, go hide it with care.
Go think of it calmly, when curtained by night;
Go tell it to Jesus, and all will be right.

Go tell it to Jesus, He knoweth thy grief;
Go tell it to Jesus, He’ll send thee relief;
Go gather the sunshine He sheds on the way:
He’ll lighten thy burden—Go, weary one, pray.

Hearts growing aweary with heavier woe
Now droop ’mid the darkness—Go, comfort them, go!
Go bury thy sorrow, let others be blessed;
Go give them the sunshine, tell Jesus the rest.

I SURRENDER ALL

All to Jesus, I surrender;
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.

Refrain

I surrender all, I surrender all,
All to Thee, my blessèd Savior,
I surrender all.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Humbly at His feet I bow,
Worldly pleasures all forsaken;
Take me, Jesus, take me now.

Refrain

All to Jesus, I surrender;
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.

Refrain

All to Jesus, I surrender;
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power;
Let Thy blessing fall on me.

Refrain

All to Jesus I surrender;
Now I feel the sacred flame.
O the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory, to His Name!

WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS

What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield you; you will find a solace there.

Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised Thou wilt all our burdens bear
May we ever, Lord, be bringing all to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright unclouded there will be no need for prayer
Rapture, praise and endless worship will be our sweet portion there.

Words : Scriven wrote this hymn to comfort his mother, who was across the sea from him in Ireland. It was originally published anonymously, and Scriven did not receive full credit for almost 30 years.

Music : In World War I, the tune was paired with the words to “When This Bloody War is Over.”

HWR 373

HOLD THOU MY HAND

1.  Hold Thou my hand ; so weak I am, and helpless ;
I dare not take one step without Thy aid.
Hold Thou my hand ; for then, O Loving Savior,
No dread of ill shall make my soul afraid.

2.  Hold Thou my hand, and closer, closer draw me
To Thy dear self — my hope, my joy, my all ;
Hold Thou my hand ; lest haply I should wander,
And missing Thee, my trembling feet should fall.

3.  Hold Thou my hand ; the way is dark before me
Without the sunlight of Thy face divine ;
But when by faith I catch its radiant glory,
What heights of joy, what rapturous songs are mine !

4.  Hold Thou my hand, that when I reach the margin
Of that lone river Thou didst cross for me,
A heavenly light may flash along its waters,
And every wave like crystal bright shall be.

CJ 201

  1. Jesus, I am resting, resting,
    In the joy of what Thou art ;
    I am finding out the greatness
    Of Thy loving heart.
    Thou hast bid me gaze upon Thee,
    And Thy beauty fills my soul,
    For by Thy transforming power,
    Thou hast made me whole.

Refrain

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art ;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.

  1. O, how great Thy loving kindness,
    Vaster, broader than the sea !
    O, how marvelous Thy goodness,
    Lavished all on me !
    Yes, I rest in Thee, Belovèd,
    Know what wealth of grace is Thine,
    Know Thy certainty of promise,
    And have made it mine.
  2. Simply trusting Thee, Lord Jesus,
    I behold Thee as Thou art,
    And Thy love, so pure, so changeless,
    Satisfies my heart;
    Satisfies its deepest longings,
    Meets, supplies its every need,
    Compasseth me round with blessings :
    Thine is love indeed!
  3. Ever lift Thy face upon me
    As I work and wait for Thee;
    Resting ’neath Thy smile, Lord Jesus,
    Earth’s dark shadows flee.
    Brightness of my Father’s glory,
    Sunshine of my Father’s face,
    Keep me ever trusting, resting,
    Fill me with Thy grace.
